Yesterday was Hunter's first day of school, we decided to start him now so that by the time I go to school in January he will be well adjusted to going to school full time. (Right now he goes to the morning session.) Yesterday Dustin and I took him in to school and Hunter was sad when Dustin left for work but when I left he said bye so I thought everything would be ok. But when I called in later in the morning to check up on him the teacher said that he was adjusting and would cry off and on. When I picked him up he was playing the piano with the director and she said he had a hard day and that things would get better as the weeks go on. When I asked him about school he said, "oweee" and pointed to his check. The teacher said that there were a couple of girls who were playing and when Hunter approached them one hit him in the face. But he said he was ok and didn't need ice. (nothing major) He also put his hands behind his back and said, "Wait, line" and "march". (When they go outside to play all the kids line up with their hands behind their backs and walk back to the classroom. So all in all a hard but good first day at school. After we left school we met Daddy for lunch and when we got in the car Hunter fell fast asleep and took a 3 1/2 hour nap! School sure tired him out!
Today was Hunter's second day of school and things were a little harder when I dropped him off. As soon as we got into the classroom he started crying and wouldn't let go of me. The teacher's tried to take him but I stayed a little bit and tried to calm him down. Finally, one of the teachers suggested that I just leave and that he should calm down. So I handed off my crying baby and walked out in tears. This school stuff is harder than I thought! The other parents assured me that this was normal and that their kids had gone through the same things, so that makes me feel better. When I picked up Hunter today he was eating lunch with the other kids, it's so cute to see their little "plate lunches" it even comes in those Styrofoam containers like real plate lunches! The teacher said he only ate his vegetables and fruits and picked out all the peas from his chicken, she thought this was funny but that's the norm for our vegan little boy! hahaha. I talked to Hunter about eating his chicken and rice so maybe next week he'll try it. Hopefully next week will be better for the both of us!
I'll post some pictures soon!
